Fires A fire broke out in Vantaa in the cleaning cabinet of an apartment building

The Rescue Department estimated that a fire could be ignited due to a short circuit in the spent batteries.

In Vantaa A fire broke out in an apartment building on Rosendalinkuja on Thursday afternoon.

There was one person in the apartment at the time of the fire, a resident of the apartment. The fire did not cause any injuries.

The resident spotted the fire himself, left the apartment and called the emergency center. The fire alarm came at about 2:45 p.m.

Central Uusimaa rescue firefighter Tomi Airaksinen says the fire had started in the cleaning cabinet.

“The resident had noticed a squeal in the apartment, but thought it was coming from somewhere other than his own apartment. As he set out to find the source of the snake, he noticed smoke coming from a cleaning cabinet in the hallway with flames. ”

Rescue Department got the fire extinguished quickly and did not have time to spread outside the cleaning cabinet or into the structures of the house. However, smoke spread into the apartment from the fire.

According to the rescue service, the smoke that had spread to the stairwell was quickly ventilated.

According to Airaksinen, there is no clear reason why the fire had started. For example, there were no electrical wires in the cleaning cabinet.

The rescue department was still at the apartment half an hour after the alarm to find out the cause of the fire.

“It looks like the used batteries would have gone short-circuited and it would have ignited the surrounding goods,” Airaksinen says.
