The puppy you see in the trailer for Final Fantasy XVI has a name, that is Torgal. Not only that, but he could even be a party member in the final game.
When the first trailer for Final Fantasy 16 came out, one of the things that intrigued fans the most was the puppy that was shown during several scenes that seemed to be set in the past. While that puppy didn’t appear in the second trailer, director Naoki Yoshida confirmed his name and hinted that he may be a party member.
In a recent interview, Naoki Yoshida was asked about the meaning of the puppy in that scene, making it clear that it is actually a wolf and not a dog, as well as suggesting that it could play a significant role in the final game.
“Well, let’s just say he’s more wolf than dog, and his name is ‘Torgal’. As for him being a member of the group, fans will just have to wait and see. We will share more information about the party soon“.
Yoshida spoke again about the group in another recent interview, confirming that Clive will be the only playable character. “For most of his trip, Clive will be accompanied by one or more companions. These companions will participate in the battle, as well as exchange jokes with Clive. That said, party members will be AI driven in a way that will allow players to focus solely on controlling Clive“.
