During tonight's State of Play SQUARE ENIX has revealed many new features for FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH. After showing a new trailer dedicated to the game, in which we will be able to see the return of some well-known faces from the franchise, Naoki Hamaguchi talked a little about the world and the areas that we will be able to explore in this second part of the remake.
In FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH the game world will be divided into different regions, which will be interconnected with each other. The explorable regions will be:
- Grasslands – where we will find the village of Kalm and the Chocobo ranch
- Junon – whose metropolis of the same name is one of the symbols of Shinra's military might
- Corel – the maritime city of Costa del Sol it is located in the northern part while in the south there will be the impetuous one Gold Saucer
- Gongaga – we can pay homage Zack visiting his hometown or the remains of the abandoned rector mako
- Cosmo Canyon – Where Red XIII will find its origins
- Nibel – take a dive into the past of Cloud And Tifaand meet Vincent inside the Shinra Mansion
- Meridian Ocean – the adventure will take us to explore even the oceans
Although the company has not released an in-depth analysis on the matter, we can see on the world map that to the north the Northwood region is also present.
Within the title there will be many mini-games, some coming from the 1997 classic and others created specifically for the remake. Furthermore, the company has revealed that thanks to the secondary missions it will be possible discover new details about some of the co-protagonists of the adventureas well as some new characters.
In the settings you can choose between Performance modeand thus give priority to a fixed frame rate at 60fps, or whether to choose the Graphics mode, in which priority will be given to the quality of 4K resolution. Furthermore, the company has revealed that for the game over 400 musical tracks were createdincluding new arrangements for some iconic songs from the franchise.
Among the new features revealed during the State of Play we find some exclusive abilities of the various protagonists that can be used in the exploratory phases. Here are the various skills:
- Barrett – thanks to his firearms he can hit distant objects, for example to unblock otherwise inaccessible passages.
- Yuffie – can swing on ropes to overcome cliffs and difficult paths.
- Tifa – thanks to a grappling hook it can climb onto hills and points of interest.
- Red XIII – can climb walls and pull levers with its fangs.
- Cait Sith – can grab and throw objects in the environment.
- Aerith – can manipulate the Lifestream to solve environmental puzzles.
Last, but not least, it was explained how the intrapersonal relationships between the characters can influence the gameplay. Inside the game there will be a Friendship Level which, when increased, will allow us to unlock new synergy abilities for the group.
Tetsuya Nomura closed the State of Play confirming that A demo for the game is now available. This trial version will allow us to relive the iconic flashback of Nibelheim, but not only. In fact, there will also be a portion of the game set in Junon regionthus allowing us to experiment with the game's free exploration system.
