During the past Nintendo Direct, Square Enix finally confirmed what had already been rumored previously: Final Fantasy Kart Racer Chocobo GP is a reality and will reach the Switch sometime in 2022. Details on this title remain scant, however we now know that it will have over 20 playable characters.
Akihiko maeda, game director, revealed this news as part of the company’s panel on Tokyo Game Show 2021; Maeda He stressed that all of these characters will be revealed at a later date, but did not specify if all 20 will be available at launch or if some of them will be DLC.
During this panel they also talked about the mechanics of the game, including some specific abilities of each character and of course, it will be possible to use spells such as Aero, Fira, Doom, and MBarrier. When a player uses some of these spells, an on-screen indicator will appear warning other players so they can take preventive action.
Final Fantasy Kart Racer Chocobo GP will debut at some point in 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
Editor’s note: Although 20 playable characters sounds like a good number, it is useless if they are all controlled the same or if their individual mechanics are not diverse enough. We will have to wait until the game reaches our hands to know if it will be worth it or not.
