Director Naoki Hamaguchi reported that one is planned patches for the problem Performance mode Of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth and that according to his estimates the publication is not too far away.
In a statement given to the OMG portal, Hamaguchi said: “We have received a lot of feedback on the performance mode asking whether or not it will be improved. We listen to you and are currently working on a patch to improve this aspect. I don't think the release date is far away.”
The director also added that the update will resolve cases where the lighting makes some characters' faces “very scary”.
Stable performance mode, but with big compromises in terms of resolution
For those who don't know what we're talking about, the Performance mode of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers a stable 60 fps on most occasions, however sacrificing the resolution, on average equal to only 1152p, therefore just above Full HD, returning an image screen that appears too “soft” and not particularly captivating.
This is not the only flaw in the production. As explained by Digital Foundry, despite an overall good visual performance, the game suffers from a system ambient lighting not always impeccable, low quality textures and superficially created shadows, although overall the resolution of the Performance mode is certainly the biggest flaw. Fortunately it seems that this aspect will be improved soon, hopefully substantially.
