Square Enix has recently published a documentary in 4 parts on the development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthwhich examines numerous aspects of the great work carried out by the creators of this enormous remake, with each part dealing with a specific section of the work.
Between commentators there are the director Naoki Hamaguchi, the producer Yoshinori Kitase, the creative director Tetsuya Nomura and numerous others responsible for various areas such as music, graphics, animations, creation of the environments, construction of the combat system and much more.
Four videos for four aspects of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
The first video deals in particular with world buildingas we see below.
“Episode One: Shaping the World” tells the story of the process of creating the large explorable world, illustrating how the work started from old illustrations and materials from the original Final Fantasy 7.
In Episode Two: Friends of Fate, the developers (especially Kitase, Kojima and Toriyama), focus on the characters and story episodes.
This section examines some major changes made to the narrative, but also the desire to remain faithful to the original material with regards to the characterization of the personages and their relationships, with a further enrichment of these.
The aspect relating to the changes made to the game world, the characters and various parts of the story is examined above all in Episode Three: New Friends and Foes.
In this, Hamaguchi and Nomura introduce the question of new features introduced and the new points of view inserted within this remake. We also talk about Vincent Valentine and Cid, how these characters were introduced and the changes made to their characterization, as well as other aspects.
Finally, Episode Four: Voicing Icons focuses primarily on the dubbing of the characters.
The spoken dialogues represent an important change introduced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, because they allow you to give a new characterization to the characters and also to the entire narrative of the game.
The scenes appear different also thanks to the voices, and the characters take on greater consistency, therefore dubbing represents an element of enormous importance, as is told in this video by the actors and voice actors directly involved.
We remember the review of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the patch published last week which improves the graphics and performance of the game on PS5.
