Figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze still does not approve of Kamila Valieva’s performance at the Beijing Olympics.
of Beijing one of the most startling moments of last winter’s olympics was the events after the women’s figure skating final. Was in the middle of doping Kamila Valieva collapsed and his coach Eteri Tutberidze went to set up his protégé.
The incident also caused consternation in the chairman of the International Olympic Committee In Thomas Bach.
“It was a horrible thing to see,” Bach said.

After more than a year, Tutberidze has not changed his opinion. He returns to the case of the Frenchman L’Équipe in the interview, about which also Aftonbladet tells.
“Why would I comfort someone who doesn’t want to be comforted? The problem wasn’t that he [Valijeva] failed, but that he gave up. The Olympics is every athlete’s dream, and many have done everything to get to her place. I don’t condone that kind of behavior. I think it is unfair that Thomas Bach joined my critics. I am waiting for an apology,” Tutberidze said.
To Valieva the related doping case is still pending. Russia’s anti-doping agency Rusada cleared Valieva of the charges because it considered that the banned substance had been taken accidentally. The World Anti-Doping Agency Wada plans to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).
Tutberidze says he has nothing to do with it.
“My athletes have always been clean.”
