AI Figure has announced the launch of Figure 02, a humanoid robot integrated with OpenAI language models (LLM). Figure 02 features built-in speakers and microphones, It has integrated a system of six onboard RGB cameras and its own visual language model with visual reasoning capabilities, allowing it to analyze its surroundings and move autonomously. With ten fingers, 16 degrees of freedom of movement, similar to a human hand, and a payload capacity of up to 25 kg, this robot represents a significant breakthrough in the industry.
The humanoid robot Figure 02 is designed to operate in human environments, taking advantage of the familiarity of our world, structured for the human form. Standing 1.70 meters tall and weighing 70 kg, Figure 02 has an operating autonomy of 5 hoursThe robot moves at a speed of 1.2 meters per second and operates on a fully electric system, making it suitable for applications in various sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, warehousing and retail. Below is the presentation video of Figure 02
The choice of a humanoid design is not accidental. The hands allow you to open doors and use tools, while the arms and legs allow you to move efficiently, climb stairs and lift boxes. Figure 02 combines the dexterity of the human form with advanced artificial intelligence, surpassing single-function robots and providing support in multiple work contexts.
With Figures 02 alongside the human workforce, it will be possible to create and produce much more, address drastic labor shortages, and reduce the number of workers in dangerous occupations. This robot represents a huge step forward in integrating AI into everyday life, making jobs safer and more efficient.
“We are engineering the humanoid to empower humans to do more and do better,” says the Figure team. With an AI-first approach, Figure aims to bring autonomous and intelligent robots to the global market, offering innovative solutions that will redefine automation.
According to AI Figure, the autonomous robot Figure 02 will be able to answer users’ questions in the same way that ChatGPT with GPT-4o can do so via voice.
