FIFA is in stages of change as with the format of the next men’s club World Cup. With these changes also come announcements such as creating the first women’s club world cup with the purpose of improving the level of these clubs around the world.
Great idea
The tournament will begin in 2026 and will take place between January and February of that year so as not to interfere with other calendars such as national team competitions. The teams that are expected to be most likely to compete in the first tournament are FC Barcelona, European champion; N.Y. Gotham FC, NWSL champion; and the Corinthians, champion of the Women’s Libertadores Cup.
