Fiera Milano Foundation and Bff: agreement for the new bank headquarters
BFF – the largest specialized finance operator in Italy, as well as a leader in Europe in the management and non-recourse disposal of trade receivables due from Public Administrations, and in Italy in Securities Services and Payment Services – has signed the ” agreement for the purchase and development of an area, owned by the Fiera Milano Foundation, of over 3,000 square meters and in front of pavilions 3 and 4 of FieraMilanoCity, at Portello, to create approximately 9,000 square meters of built surface above ground (7000 square meters of gross area) for the new Bank headquarters.
Bff, the building will be built in 2024
The building will be completed by the first half of 2024 and will welcome the more than 500 employees currently working in Milan. The new headquarters, which will take the name of “Casa BFF”, is part of a process of progressive renewal of the Group’s workplaces, as already happened for the Spanish offices in Madrid (2020), at Castellana 81, LEED Platinum, and for Poland, in Łódź (2019), at the Brama Miasta complex, LEED Gold. In all cases, these are examples of excellence in Europe for the high standards of environmental sustainability and for the well-being of employees.
Headquarters of Bff, project by Paolo Brescia and Tommaso Principi di Obr
Also the new project, conceived by the architects Paolo Brescia And Thomas Principi of OBR, is aimed at creating a building with LEED Platinum certification, which puts people at the center and combines integration with the city and a sense of community. It is characterized by an Energetic Flying Carpet, which draws for the fifth elevation a regular geometric figure perfectly recognizable in the map of the city seen from above. With 2,600 square meters of photovoltaic panels, it will produce 360 Megawatts now, becoming the manifesto of BFF’s environmental and sustainability values and generating energy for the needs of the building and its surroundings.
The project’s profound attention to open spaces is also reflected in the free area corresponding to the underground tunnels, which is transformed into the Agorà: a shared space that will become a super-urban meeting place, celebrating a renewed rite of urbanity. It is precisely the Energetic Flying Carpet which, on the one hand defines the pronaos, through which the building is accessed and which characterizes the large panoramic terrace, on the other, offers shelter to that Agora, a place for everyone.
The new offices represent, in fact, BFF’s commitment to contribute to the development of the city of Milan, in synergy with the role already played by the Fiera Milano Foundation. The initiative is part of a unitary dialogue with the adjacent project by architect Michele De Lucchi for the construction of a hotel structure owned by the Fiera Milano Foundation, mainly intended to support the exhibition and congress activities of the nearby MiCo, Milano Congressi.
Area chosen for its historical importance for BFF
The area was also identified for the historical importance that the area has for BFF, which moved to the headquarters in Via Domenichino in 1998. The Bank, in fact, has always invested in dialogue with the cities that host it, both in Italy and abroad. It was 2006, for example, the year in which the company commissioned the work “Danza” to the artist Gianfranco Pardi, to then donate it to the city of Milan, as a frieze of one of the main access points of the capital. in Piazza Amendola. It is that same work that inspired the company emblem, in all its reinterpretations.
BFF, attention to art and sustainability
Art and sustainability, in fact, are at the center of the overall revaluation project of the area, which will offer easy access points to public transport, new cycle paths, and will connect two areas of the city, now separated by the roadway of Viale Scarampo, through the pedestrian walkway that will connect them with CityLife and Monte Stella.
To complete the coherence of this project, there is also the decision to include, in the context of “Casa BFF”, a museum area dedicated to the works of contemporary Italian art that the Bank has collected since the 1980s and which today is interested from a traveling exhibition in Europe: “ART FACTOR – The Pop Legacy in Post-War Italian Art”.
Pazzali: “The redevelopment of one of the most prestigious areas of our city continues”
“The agreement reached with BFF – he declares Enrico Pazzali, President of the Fiera Milano Foundation – allows us to continue the redevelopment of one of the most prestigious areas of our city which began in 2006 with the sale of part of the land occupied by the Fair. An operation that in a few years has transformed this quadrant of Milan into one of the most iconic in the world and on which some of the most prestigious names in the international architectural and financial panorama have worked. Today we add another piece to this urban development operation, always carried out with the utmost respect for environmental and livability standards. The prestige and solidity of our partners guarantee us that even in this case we will reach a result that will be a source of pride for the entire city. “
Belingheri (BFF): “A new home for our bank”
Massimiliano Belingheri, Chief Executive Officer of BFF Banking Group, commented: “The path that will give BFF a new home is beginning, according to its values of sustainability, transparency and sharing. It will be a place dedicated to all Group employees and, with the museum and the usability of the outdoor spaces, also to citizens. The occasion is a source of further pride for us, having found a partner such as the Fiera Milano Foundation to extend the project of our new headquarters to a wider initiative for the development of such an important district in Milan “.
