After changing the name of the current range, with the debut of Pandina, the new Fiat Panda is preparing for its long-awaited debut. The new generation of the iconic model of the Italian brand will be unveiled on July 11th in Turin, on the occasion of the 125 years of history of the brand. No teasers have yet been released and no shots of the forklifts have emerged but some information on the characteristics of the new Fiat Panda seems to be a certain thing.
The new Fiat Panda
The new generation of Fiat Panda could be born on the Smart Car platform of the Stellantis group. The new low-cost architecture introduced in Europe with the new Citroen e-C3 will in fact be the basis of seven other models distributed among the various brands of the company led by Carlos Tavares and among these there could also be the best seller of the Turin brand. The new architecture used by Double Chevron mainly in India and South America has made it possible to reduce design costs, while allowing the use of a multi-energy platform which, in addition to electric, can also accommodate internal combustion engines but above all brings the debut of LFP, lithium batteries -iron-phosphate, safer and with better performance in terms of wear and recharging. The new generation will be born in Serbia, in Kragujevac. A news confirmed in the last weeks of 2023 by Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić after a meeting with Carlos Tavares.
Interiors
The interiors of the new Fiat Panda will recall Lingotto, symbol of the brand: the creatives of the Turin brand drew inspiration from the structural lightness, the optimization of spaces and the brightness that characterizes one of Fiat’s symbolic places, with La Pista 500 being an example taken from inside the passenger compartment for the dashboard layout as well as for the screen and seats.
Electric and endothermic
Alongside the electric version of the Fiat Panda there will also be a petrol variant which will remain faithful in philosophy to the Panda we know today. According to some rumors coming from France, the new generation of Fiat Panda will be equipped with an endothermic version a 100 HP engine and will not exceed 15,000 euros, a cost all in all in line with the current one. It is possible that at a later stage the BEV range will expand with a second version with a smaller battery (similarly to the e-C3) with a price close to 19,000 euros.
