Le Mans is still red
A year after winning the Centenary edition, the Ferrari achieved a new success at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans. The first to pass the checkered flag, after completing 311 laps, was the 499P number #50 of the Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen trio.
The result was the fruit of impeccable teamwork which allowed the official 499Ps to remain in the fight for leadership throughout the race, optimizing the performance of the Hypercars and diversifying strategies in particular in the choice of tyres, during a race characterized by rain which led to almost seven hours of Safety Car, particularly during the night
The technical director of the Endurance program Ferdinando Cannizzo he commented on the victory at Le Mans like this: “Humility, passion and determination were the basis of this victory. We arrived at Le Mans knowing that we didn’t have the most competitive car by far, but aware that we can play our cards. In the last few days, starting from Test Day, we have demonstrated the value of the whole team, analyzing the critical issues and finding the best solutions to be able to have a good race. In recent months, although we have not used any jokers, we have focused on our 499P with the aim of improving it in every single aspect. In the race, even in the most difficult moments, we faced every problem with concentration and in the final phase, when it was time to attack, we chose to continue with the Medium tyres, despite the risk of rain, capitalizing on the potential of our 499P”.
