Weekend to forget for Ferrari in Canada
“It was a race to forget for the whole team. We knew it would be difficult as we continually struggled to find grip and with the car balance. Throughout the race I tried to do my best and when I started pushing to get back into a trainor cars with DRS I made a mistake touching the curb which ended my race. I apologize to the team and to Alex (Albon). We need to work before the Spanish Grand Prix to understand what we did wrong this weekend and make sure we don’t find ourselves in this situation again on future occasions. It’s time to move on“. This is how Carlos Sainz commented on the Canadian GP which saw him end up spinning, an error which sent Alexander Albon into the wall, hit by Sainz’s Ferrari while the Williams driver tried to avoid contact through an evasive manoeuvre.
For Sainz it is about second zero of the season, the first for which he is responsible given that he was unable to race in Saudi Arabia due to appendicitis which excluded him from the Jeddah weekend starting from FP3 on Saturday.
In Canada the Williams team principal James Vowles has come out in the open about having contacted Carlos Sainz to offer the Spaniard the seat alongside Alexander Albon. In Spain, the current Ferrari driver’s decision regarding his future is awaited.
