The latest efforts put in place to try to save Felicity Ace have been in vain: the cargo ship that a few days ago was hit by a fire in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is sunk when it was 220 nautical miles off the coast of the Portuguese Azores Islands. A big blow for the Volkswagen Group, given that the cargo ship was used to transport about 4,000 vehicles of the German group to the United States: Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Volkswagen now they will have to deal with huge car losses.
An estimated 1,900 Audi, 1,100 Porsches, 500 Volkswagens, 189 Bentleys and 85 Lamborghinis were on board the Felicity Ace that sank this morning. Everything suggests that none of these cars can be saved, which means that they are planned for the Volkswagen Group damages of 155 million dollars. According to the latest rumors, tugs and rescue boats are still in the area to monitor the situation after the sinking: at the moment it does not seem that polluting oil leaks have been recorded, but the issue is still under control. In recent days, the CEO of Lamborghini AmericaAndrea Baldi, said he was concerned about the possible damage to the Aventador on board the Felicity Ace: “At the moment we do not know the extent of the problem, we will have to address it when it arises. For the moment I prefer to hope that at least the few examples of the supercars on the ship are safe ”. A hope, unfortunately, completely vain.
