About LGTBIQ+ representation on Peruvian television
On previous occasions, the LGTBIQ+ community has been the subject of stereotypical representations on the small screen, which have contributed to reinforcing prejudice against its members. A recent case was the use of transphobic expressions in the series “Back to the neighborhood”, which caused the annoyance of the trans community, which later received the corresponding apologies from the production of the program.
However, inclusive and realistic representations of the community are becoming more frequent. In this sense, in 2020, the Movistar TV company presented a commercial that showed a homosexual couple, which, although it caused controversy at the time, helped to make the LGBTIQ+ community.
