It’s the third Sunday in June and Dad knows it. This June 19, Father’s Day is celebrated in Peru. Although on these dates we used to only celebrate those who gave us life, the truth is that there are so many ways to love and different ways to procreate.
For this reason, we want to give a space to various TV father figures who are members of the LGTBIQ+ community who have shown great love for their children from the heart. Here we leave you these honorable mentions, in no particular order.
“Glee” – Disney+
“Glee” is probably one of the most famous youth series on the small screen. The iconic production, created by Ryan Murphy, touches on different social topics, which is why including LGBTIQ+ characters was one of the most important aspects of its plot. Even, they were not only limited to their main roles.
The families of the glee club members were of all kinds, from happy fairy tale prototypes to some that were dysfunctional. However, the story showed us Rachel’s parents, Hiram and Leroy, as a very exemplary couple who only wanted the best for her perfectionist daughter.

“Modern family” – Star+
Likewise, we have our dear and funny Mitch and Cam, who came to TV about 13 years ago; and they quickly became not only among the first homoparental couples on the small screen, but also some of the most popular characters in the films of that time.
Both adopted Lily, a Vietnamese girl who, as she grows older, leads viewers into a string of hilarious situations, with which they also tried to teach the audience about the challenges of a same-sex couple with a child.

“Eternals” – Disney+
Marvel Studios marked a great milestone for the LGTBIQ+ community with the premiere of “Eternals”. Although we had previously had some characters who were members of the collective, this film directed by the renowned filmmaker Chloé Zhao presented the first homoparental family of the MCU.
This was formed by the eternal Phastos, her husband, Ben Stoss, and their son, Jack. This firstborn seems very fascinated with Ikaris, a hero whom he mistakes for Superman. This scene, in fact, was highly commented on by fans, because a kind of crossover with the world of DC was created.
“AJ and the Queen” – Netflix
Here we are not talking about a premeditated paternal relationship, but more like an emotional coincidence. “AJ and the Queen” follows Ruby Red, a drag queen with a big personality but down on her luck, who travels across America. Her life takes her from club to club in a beat-up 1986 R/V.
However, to his busy lifestyle he will have to add an extra responsibility: being the father figure of AJ, his traveling companion of 10 years who joins him as a stowaway after being orphaned.

“American Dad” – Star+
We leave the live-action series to move on to animation with “American dad”. Although Stan, his family and his problems are the protagonists, no one will deny that some of the most beloved characters are neighbors Greg Corbins and Terry Bates. They are both news anchors and live together.
However, the time comes when they want to start their own family, so they start looking for the possible means, until Stan’s wife, Francine, volunteers as a surrogate candidate. Soon after, Liberty ‘Libby’ Belle is born.
