“At the age of 75, conductor, People’s Artist of Belarus Mikhail Finberg died,” the ONT website says. The causes of death are not named. Farewell to Finberg will take place on December 13 at the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society in Minsk.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the People’s Artist of the Republic. The head of state stressed that Finberg’s activities are “an example of boundless devotion to art and the Motherland.”
Mikhail Finberg was born on February 21, 1947 in the city of Mozyr. He graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory with a degree in trombone and graduated from the same educational institution with a degree in orchestral conducting. Since 1987, Finberg has been the artistic director and director of the State Concert Orchestra of Belarus. He was awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna, the special prize of the President of Belarus, the Union State prize in the field of literature and art.
