The families also asked the ICC prosecutor to issue an international arrest warrant against the Hamas leaders.said French lawyer François Zimeray in a statement.
The Palestinian Islamist movement, which governs the Gaza Strip, carried out unprecedented attacks on Israeli soil on October 7, which according to the authorities of that country left more than 1,400 dead.
The complaint was filed by nine families of Israeli victims“all civilians, and many of whom were at the ‘Tribe of Nova’ music festival,” Zimeray added.
The complaint states that “the Hamas terrorists do not deny the crimes committed, which they documented and widely disseminated, and that (…) Therefore these facts cannot be discussed.”

“In the face of barbarism, the force of law must prevail,” Zimeray said in an interview with Radio Classique.
The lawyer said she went to the ICC because she is “the heir” of the Nuremberg trial. “It is the best thing that the international community has built to fairly confront mass atrocities,” he said.
Any individual or group can bring a case to the ICC, which is based in The Hague, but it is up to the court’s prosecutor to launch an investigation.
Contacted by AFP, the court confirmed that it received the complaint.

The ICC, founded in 2002, opened an investigation in 2021 into Israel, Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups for possible war crimes in the Palestinian territories.
His prosecutor, Karim Khan, He said any alleged war crimes in the ongoing conflict would fall under the jurisdiction of the ICC.
However, ICC teams have not been able to enter Gaza or Israel, which is not a member of the Court.
