Today it's all a jubilee for the Fallout TV series and for the extra sales guaranteed to the videogame chapters. Bethesda currently manages the intellectual property, with great success, let's face it, but it hasn't always been all sunshine and rainbows. No, we're not talking about the launch of Fallout 76, but much more. More precisely, Fallout 3, towards which there is no great resentment today, but which at the time of the announcement earned Todd Howard's company several death threats, so many that they forced the management to hire bodyguards.
Toxicity
The artist Jonah Lobe told it in a video published on his YouTube channel, who was responsible for drawing the creatures of the third and fourth Fallout.
According to Lobe, when Bethesda announced its acquisition of the Fallout series, “there was a lot of excitement, a lot of enthusiasm, and a lot of death threats.”
The man then explained: “I know it may shock you to know that not all gamers are great people. And Fallout, I regret to say, exceeded the average share of unpleasant fans. For this small but very vocal community, our attempt to revive the franchise was nothing but sacrilege. For the first time, Bethesda had to hire a bodyguard.”
Interviewed by KotakuLobe recalled that sites specializing in the Fallout series, such as No Mutants Allowed, were full of toxicity towards the developers.
In short, nothing strange for the world of video games or today's internet.
