To the living memory of Manuel Buendía,
forty years after his political assassination
He President López Obrador put the conservative intellectuals on the edge of a nervous attack.
The pronouncements, displays and declarations of the organic intellectuals of the cultural superstructure of the right-wing project of Claudio X. González have been a very clear example of the machincuepas of the leaders of the cultural mafias of the PRIANREDE: Roger Bartra, Hector Aguilar Camin and Enrique Krauzeamong many others.
By the way, in the debate on the partisan-electoral positioning of intellectuals who are supposedly men of ideas, we must remember that phrase by Octavio Paz to refer to the Camín-Krauze alliance today reconstructed who had signed a provocative note in 1972 in the supplement La cultura en Mexico of the PRI intellectual Fernando Benítez and who had acidly described her: “intellectual conjoined twins” who had “half a brain in two bodies.” That supplement was a cultural cave of the revolutionary nationalism of the PRI.
The rational logic of intellectuals has configured a new proposal in the theory of political thought: the democracy authoritarian, that is, the existence of democratic rules to the limit at which the adversary assumes that behind a certain democratic radicalism there is the ferment of a dictatorship and then democracy will have the right to impose dictatorial and undemocratic coercion to avoid authoritarianism in that non-existent moment.
Bartra, Camín and Krauze They have written essays on democracy for a long time, but now it is known that the limits of democracy, in good rural language, end at the compadre’s oxen: as they assume without proving that in the López Obrador proposal there is an authoritarian argument of dictatorshipthen it does not matter that López Obrador and his candidate have been scrupulously complying with all the rules established by electoral democracy and only because of the suspicion of an autocracy does the democratic path have to be closed to that current that otherwise, until Today, it is still the majority.
The authoritarian democracy of Bartra, Camín and Krauze It is equally destructive and undemocratic as the supposedly authoritarian democracy that is credited to President López Obrador, who by the way has submitted to the rules of democracy in his proposals and advances them if they are politically legitimized and contains them if the parliamentary space prevents him from advancing. .
This authoritarian thinking of democratic intellectuals fits very well into Krauze’s analytical and theoretical framework when he analyzed López Obrador to conclude that he formed the image of a tropical messiah. Krauze’s authoritarian democracy today is fundamentalist, therefore, and democratic and certainly Manichaean, with the aggravating circumstance that the author of “For a democracy without adjectives” conditions democratic recognition to his own rules of the game and not to the that establish the democratizing practices themselves.
The problem with this current of intellectuals of authoritarian democracy is that it ends up being exactly the same as the exclusionary practices of political dictatorships. The Schmittian scenario of voting for democracy or dictatorship/authoritarianism/messianism makes supposedly democratic intellectuals fall into the one-way territory of excluding the contender under the assumption that he is not a democrat. For this reason, Bartra, Camín and Krauze reproduce on the intellectual right Carl Schmitt’s binary authoritarian model of politics as the friend/enemy relationship, the fundamental basis of fascist thought.
As thought police who suspect alleged crimes that have not been committed but could be committed, the three organic intellectuals of PRIANREDE are condemning to the bonfire in which medieval obscurantism burned the alleged anti-religious witches and warlocks whom they are scrupulously complying with all the rules of democracy, but the three intellectuals say that they have consulted their crystal ball and the rulers of the second six-year term of López Obrador will establish a dictatorship that will end, they say, definitively, with the democratic practices of the old PRI, PAN and PRD.
The deployment of the 270 Prianredista intellectuals will go down in the country’s cultural history as an example of when men of culture replaced ideas with the cudgel of authoritarian politics.
The certainty remains that the intellectuals of PRIANREDE must be reread and read as propagandists and not as people of ideas.
