The president of CriteriaCaixa and the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, Isidro Fainehas renewed his three-year term as president of the World Institute of Savings Banks and Retail Banks (WSBIfor its acronym in English), during the General Assembly held in Romeas reported by the CECA banking association in a statement.
The institute, which this year completed the centenary of its foundationcurrently represents more than 6,400 financial entities distributed in 78 countries around the world. The entities associated with the WSBI have a total of 13.25 trillion dollars of assets, employ 2.1 million people and serve 1.7 billion clients, with a network of more than 220,000 offices
In his speech at the WSBI assembly, Fainé referred to the Institute priorities for the new mandatewhich focus on financial and social inclusion, digitalization and innovation, sustainability and social responsibility and global impact.
“Each year, WSBI member entities allocate $3.5 billion to social initiatives. Our goal is to reach $5 billion in two years. By working together, we can go much further and benefit the lives of many more vulnerable people and groups around the world,” the re-elected president highlighted in his speech.
“We members of the WSBI have more than justified reasons to proclaim that We are more than just financial institutions“said Fainé, who indicated that facing the second centenary they will continue working to make the world a more inclusive, fairer and more prosperous place.
Fainé recalled that “at WSBI we use the famous three Rs to synthesize our system of values and business culture: retailto refer to our commitment to customers; rootedbecause we are committed to the territory; and responsiblefor our commitment to the society of which we are a part”.
On the other hand, Fainé has highlighted that the commitment to financial inclusion It is a fundamental pillar of its reason for being and the business is not only based on selling, but on “helping to improve people’s daily lives by offering them a differential service based on each person’s circumstances.”
