The MP Motorsport team has completed its line-up for the 2022 Formula 3 season. Alongside the very confirmed Caio Collet and the expert Alexander Smolyar – who will thus compete for the third consecutive year in the series – the Dutch team announced today the hiring of Kush Maini.
The Indian, younger brother of former F2 driver Arjun, made his debut in a single-seater in 2016 competing in the Italian Formula 4 to remain in the Italian championship until 2017. He then moved on to British Formula 3 and Formula Renault Eurocup.
Last year Maini raced in Asian F3 with the Mumbai Falcons and also started in the WEC at the wheel of an LMP2 at the 6 Hours of Bahrain.
“I am thrilled to join the MP Motorsport team for my debut season in F3. In 2021 the team proved to be a winning team and was the only one whose two rookies managed to finish the championship in the top 10 ”.
“This demonstrates the ability to guide rookies to express themselves at their best. I can’t wait to arrive in Bahrain for the first test session and the first race of the season ”.
Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport team principal, said: “I am delighted to welcome Kusk to our F3 team. In recent years he has shown that he adapts very well to the regional F3 categories and now the time has come for him to make this leap. “
“I am sure we have a good mix of riders with him, Alex and Caio and we will do our best to help him shine in the nine race weekends this season.”
