All ready for 2024
Formula 2 is preparing to give fans another season full of entertainment thanks to the new technical regulations introduced for the 2024 championship, as well as the presence of numerous talents who will highlight their qualities in the hope of a move to Formula 1 for next year or for subsequent championships. 2024 will also see the introduction of new Dallara F2, which in terms of aesthetic and above all technical characteristics recalls those of current F1 single-seaters. The Mecachrome V6 engine it will be the same as the previous season, albeit with an evolved version, while the use of the 55% sustainable fuelwith the aim of reaching 100% in 2027.
Rookies and team passes
However, there are many changes on the starting grid, awaiting the last two official announcements which have yet to be announced Trident (for now with only Verschoor) e PHM AIX (with the debutant Joshua Durksen) to definitively complete the line-up. The presence of the reigning champion Theo Pourchaire will not be seen, ready for a new experience in Super Formula and replaced by the rookie Zak O'Sullivan, as well as those of Jehan Daruvala, Jack Doohan and Ayumu Iwasa, with the Japanese returning to his homeland to also continue in Super Formula. The big news is the debut in the category of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, promoted by Prema directly from Formula Regional Europea without passing through F3. Furthermore, the Bolognese will be the only Italian pilot present on the grid. The rookies also include Miyata returns in Rodin, as well as Pepe Marti in Campos, a team that also signed Isack Hadjar from Hitech. At the same time, the Spanish company sells Kush Maini to the Virtuosi team, which in turn promotes the reigning F3 champion Gabriel Bortoleto. He is also included in the list of rookies Franco Colapinto in MP Motorsport, while DAMS revolutionizes its line-up with the arrival of the Americans Crawford and Correa. Hitech also changes its driver pairing, in this case with Aron and Cordeel. Fittipaldi passes in Van Amersfoort next to the rookie Rafael Villagomez.
Teams and races confirmed
All eleven teams confirmed who will present themselves at the start of the Bahrain GP, the first of the 14 appointments scheduled. Here too, however, there is no shortage of small innovations. Above all that of the team Rodin Motorsport, which took on this name after Carlin's exit. Also PHM will present itself under its own power after the interruption of the partnership with Charouz Racing. Finally, unlike 2023, no new races will be introduced on the calendar.
