There is something new this weekend in Jeddah. Formula 1, in fact, seems to be oriented towards using the giant screens placed at the edge of the track to improve the visibility of the drivers in the event of accidents in blind corners.
Today it was announced that a test of this technology will take place for the second free practice session, which will be held at 18:00 Italian time. The screens are installed on the left side of the track near curves 13, 16 and 19 and will offer the drivers images of the track so as to be warned if there is a stationary car.
At the moment it has not yet been announced whether this experiment will be repeated in subsequent sessions, but if the experimentation in FP2 is successful it is likely that it will continue.

George Russell, director of the Grand Prix Drivers Association, welcomed this idea. The Mercedes driver also underlined how this solution, if it actually works, could also be adopted on other tracks.
“Before giving an opinion I will have to get out on the track. Only then can he get an idea, ”the Englishman told Motorsport.com.
“In some cases these solutions work, in others they don’t. We know the visibility problems of this track and I am in favor of any FIA solution that can help us ”.
“If this solution works, then we could also see it on other tracks such as Baku, Munich and Singapore. If it reduces risks and improves safety, then we will all be happy ”.
Less convinced of the goodness of this attempt Lando Norris: “I think we must first actually see how we pilots will find ourselves since the big screens are positioned in a very fast section of the track”.
“We may not have time to watch what’s happening on the screen while we’re busy driving. We’ll see. If it works, it could also be repeated in other appointments “.
