George Russell is conspicuously satisfied with the Pole Position achieved in Canada at the end of a Qualifying which to say was very tight would be nothing.
The 1’12″000 achieved by the Briton wasn’t actually enough to really be the fastest on the track because a few moments later the usual Max Verstappen crossed the finish line to equal his performance to the thousandth.
According to the regulations, however, the Mercedes standard bearer holds the lead, as he was the first of the two to finish the best lap, so in Montreal the Red Bull will be on the second spot on the front row.
“I’m very happy! Already in Monaco we saw that something had managed to change compared to the beginning of the season, the great work carried out behind the scenes in the company has allowed us to be here now, which is exciting”, commented Russell.
“Conditions were variable in all sessions and Q3 wasn’t the best actually, but I’m happy to have got the good lap.”

Mercedes has proven to be very competitive and will therefore be able to enter the fight for the top, after a long time of suffering.
“We go better in corners, we have finally found the ideal conditions that we have been looking for for a long time, after suffering from understeer and oversteer in the last two years. A relief!”
“It’s really fantastic, but this is only the first step. Now we have to aim for victory. Will we make it? Why not…”
“We will definitely try, the car gave fantastic sensations, after the updates introduced in Monaco we really feel like we are fighting and we will attack in the race.”
