The challenge awaiting the technicians who will supervise the renovation work on the Monza circuit is not the simplest. The scope of the works and the time available (the closing of the construction sites is set for the end of June) do not allow for unforeseen events.
The part that will affect those who take to the track most closely is undoubtedly the total resurfacing of the track and pit lane, a work that goes far beyond ordinary asphalting. The intervention was made necessary to resolve problems of deformation of the pavement and emergence of water on the surface.
The track will undergo a total renovation, with a review of the slopes (transversal and width) of the curbs (they will all be replaced) and of the water disposal system in case of rain. Where necessary, the bottom will be renovated, while high-performance mixtures will be used in the part above. New access roads will also be built between the marshals' positions and the track, as will the escape routes of the First and Second Variants, which will go from the current 'paved' version to a new one made of gravel.
The other crucial point of the renovation works concerns the underpasses, which have been a thorn in the side of the Monza circuit for decades. The objective of the interventions is to separate vehicular traffic from pedestrian traffic, in order to create new access for heavy vehicles, which until now has been a very penalizing aspect for internal roads. To solve the problem relating to trucks and car transporters, a new underpass will be built at the parabolic curve, which will connect the vehicular flow coming from the entrance of Vedano al Lambro with the paddock area.

In Monza all the curbs will be replaced and in the escape routes of the Variants we will see the gravel again
Three other underpasses will be renovated to improve the management of car and pedestrian traffic. The two areas will be separated, with pedestrians having a 4 meter wide corridor at their disposal, while the area reserved for cars will have two lanes, to allow flow without alternating directions.
The underpasses that will be renovated are the Piscine one (which extends under the main straight near the First Variant) and the two connecting the internal part of the Autodrome and the straight of the high-speed ring located to the East. In the latter two cases we will move from underpasses which are currently exclusively pedestrian, to large passages with spaces for cars and pedestrians.
