Wolff confident for Montreal
Toto Wolff and Mercedes are holding on. As the technical director James had anticipated Allison, also in the Canadian Grand Prix the Brackley team will have updates on the W15, in addition to those brought to Monte-Carlo. The front wing seen in the Principality on George Russell’s car has provided some improvements that Mercedes considers more appreciable on slower circuits, and will also be featured on Lewis Hamilton’s car.
Wolff’s words
The team principal Mercedes looks with confidence at Canada’s commitment, another stage in Mercedes’ rise to the top: “The weekend in Monaco was encouraging. We continued to make solid progress with our car, improving our general balance and getting closer to those ahead of us. This progress is not yet manifesting itself in terms of positions, but if we can close the gap to the faster cars, we know we will do so in due course“, these are the words of the Austrian to Mercedes channels.
“Both drivers will have the updated front wing available in Canada, as well as other development elements for this event. The front wing offered a small gain in lap time on the narrow streets of the Principality and should offer greater advantages on upcoming circuits. That said, the picture of top positions is incredibly competitive. The field has compressed, the others will continue to improve. We will still have to work hard and diligently to fit into the group“.
“The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a very beautiful track. It offers a mix of low-speed corners and high-speed straights that make for great racing. We always love coming back to Montreal because the fans are incredibly passionate about F1. Over the years we have experienced many positive moments and we hope to add more this weekend“.
