Montreal, lots of rain and few accidents
The Grand Prix of Montreal it will be remembered as a crazy race, characterized by variable weather conditions, in which the timing of tire changes played a decisive role. Usually in this type of grand prix the drivers (especially the less experienced ones) cause damage, whereas in the worst conditions in terms of grip level there was at most some understandable excursions.
Alonso’s words
Fernando Alonsowho has experienced almost 400 GPs as a protagonist, knows well the difficulties of Sunday and wanted to congratulate his colleagues: “The race, for me, was one of the most difficult, and it will have been for each of the 20 pilots. I was amazed that nothing happened: for many laps there was no accident but the conditions were extremely difficult, so congratulations to everyone“, this is the Spaniard’s comment.
“The dry line was only two meters wide, you couldn’t put a tire outside that area. In the end we scored points with two cars, so we must be happy“.
The Aston Martin veteran then commented on the battle with Lewis Hamiltonwho he managed to keep behind until the entry of the first Safety Car: “I was a bit worried when we stopped for the first time because the track was dry and we put on new intermediate tires as the forecast was for a bit of rain, but that wasn’t the case. There wasn’t much to do in front of us and there wasn’t much threat behind us. Lewis was definitely one of the fastest on the track, it was a matter of time before we lost that position“.
