McLaren dominates the present, but takes a leap into the past, a golden past, by unveiling the livery it will race with this weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix.
The Woking team, who returned to the top of the Constructors’ Championship after a decade of absence thanks to Oscar Piastri’s victory and Lando Norris’ fourth place in Baku, this morning presented Legend Reborn, the livery they will use at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend.
This is a livery designed by McLaren together with the sponsor OKX to celebrate the iconic period of the Woking team, when it fielded MP4s for drivers of the calibre of Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. In short, the years of domination.
The livery, in terms of design, almost faithfully reflects the colours of the late 80s and the beginning of the following decade, but the Marlboro orange-red has been replaced by papaya orange, to further strengthen the concept of McLaren’s history.
The livery will be revealed today at an event at the Singapore track, attended by McLaren CEO Zak Brown, drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri and OKX marketing director Haider Rafique.
“It’s fantastic to be launching our third historic livery with OKX in Singapore. Legend Reborn is a great way to celebrate our iconic history, connecting old and new fans,” said Louise McEwen, McLaren Marketing Director.
“Following the Senna livery, this colorway strengthens our partnership with OKX and helps continue to tell our story to our fans and OKX customers.”
Haider Rafique, Marketing Director at OKX, added: “Together with McLaren, we believe in the power of perseverance and innovation. This year, we’ve launched a number of updates, including a complete revamp of our wallet, that will make it easier for people around the world to access the onchain world. We believe that cryptocurrency, like F1, can be disrupted by a visionary team that fearlessly innovates and embraces a challenger mentality. The time has come for a new alternative to the established hierarchy, and Legend Reborn encourages us to look to the past for inspiration as we chart a new course for the future.”
