Haas F1 was the first team to present its 2024 car and make its debut on track for the filming day. A few hours ago he was also the first to announce his driver line up for the only three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain scheduled from 21st to 23rd February.
On the Sakhir track, which will also be the scene of the first race of the 24 that make up the 2024 Formula 1 calendar, the American team directed this year by Ayao Komatsu after the separation from Guenther Steiner will have both regular drivers drive in all three races test days.
On the first day, Wednesday 21 February, the VF-24 will make its testing debut with Kevin Magnussen at the wheel. The Dane will only ride in the morning and then leave room for Nico Hulkenberg in the afternoon session.
On the second day, Thursday 22 February, the shifts will be reversed compared to the first day, with Hulkenberg starting the day at the wheel of the single-seater and then handing it over to Magnussen in the afternoon.
On the third and final day of testing, Haas decided to repeat the sequence that it will also use on the first day, with Kevin Magnussen closing his tests by running in the morning, while Nico Hulkenberg will close the three days of testing by running in the afternoon.
The solution adopted by Haas, with the two drivers splitting the three days in such a way as to have had the opportunity to drive for a day and a half, will presumably be chosen by almost all (if not all) the other teams.
With just one pre-season test it is difficult to get your drivers to get into the rhythm and prepare the cars as best as possible, so this is undoubtedly the most logical and sensible choice that we will see replicated by Haas' rivals starting in the next few days, when even the others will reveal their lineups before the Sakhir tests.
