Ferrari has made official two reinforcements who will arrive in Maranello from October 1st: Loic Serra and Jarome d’Ambrosio are two important acquisitions who arrive from Toto Wolff’s staff, i.e. from Mercedes.
Loic Serra will be the Head of Chassis Performance Engineering, reporting directly to Enrico Cardile, overseeing various areas of the Racing Department, including on-track responsibility, aerodynamic development and performance development.
Loic was born in France in 1972 and graduated in mechanical engineering after studying in Aix-en-Provence and Paris. After university, he worked for Michelin and then for the BMW-Sauber and Mercedes AMG Formula 1 teams.
Jerome d’Ambrosio will become deputy Team Principal, reporting directly to Fred Vasseur. D’Ambrosio will also be appointed head of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, the Maranello company’s program for young drivers.
Jerome was born in Belgium in 1985 and was a professional driver until 2020. His palmares include a victory in GP2, three in Formula E and he also competed in 20 Formula 1 Grands Prix from 2011 to 2012. At Mercedes he worked on alongside Team Principal Toto Wolff and managed the Stuttgart company’s young driver program.
Serra and D’Ambrosio are two characters that Vasseur chose before Lewis Hamilton decided to accept the offer to come and drive for Ferrari from next year: will the seven-time world champion bring along other specialists from Mercedes?
