Despite what happened in the eighth race of the 2024 Formula One season, Red Bull Racing would make official the renewal of the Mexican steering wheel prior to the Canadian Grand Prix.
According to the site ‘The Race’. Sergio Pérez’s link with the Austrian team would extend for another year, the information would even be confirmed before the return of Formula One, during the weekend of June 7 to 9.
It should be remembered that Red Bull Racing would already have the renewal contract for ‘Checo’ Pérez, which guarantees one year with the option of a second, although the man from Guadalajara made a counterproposal.
‘Checo’ Pérez asks to extend their relationship for another two years, a proposal that the Red Bulls immediately denied, a situation that would stall negotiations between the driver and the Milton Keynes team.
Sergio Michel Pérez Mendoza has faced difficulties in his last two Formula One competitions, the Emilia-Romagna and Monaco Grands Prix, respectively.
At the Autódromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari ‘Checo’ finished with eighth place and in Monte Carlo he did not finish the competition and as a result suffered a slip from third to fifth place in the Drivers’ Tournament by adding 107 points.
