Perez, another disaster
Very strange days for Sergio Perez. The Mexican seemed to be in question more at the beginning of the year, when he achieved good results and was closer to the performances of Max Verstappen, compared to now: thanks to the contract renewal announced between Monte-Carlo and Montreal, two weekends of zero on the report card for Checo.
In Canada the Mexican was once again eliminated in Q1, while yesterday he only stood out for the accident in turn 6 which ended his race. It is the second consecutive zero for the #11, who admits his difficulties but is intent on making up ground starting from Montmeló.
Perez’s words
“The accident is my fault, I touched the wet part and couldn’t stop the car. It’s been a very difficult two weekends, but we’ll keep our heads down and learn from this weekend. After qualifying we identified a couple of issues that would have allowed us to qualify much higher. We hope to return to form in Spain and to the level at the beginning of the season“, this is the analysis of Checo to Red Bull channels.
“I’ve lost a lot of momentum lately and will work hard over the next two weeks to get back into shape. I suffered front wing damage on the first lap when Pierre Gasly and I collided, which affected my first stint and caused us to lose some momentum“, he continued. “For most of the race there was only one dry line and at times it was difficult to pass. Afterwards the dry line started to open up and my intermediates were a bit too used, then when I switched to the new tires and changed the front wing I had good pace, but it was still difficult to overtake“.
