Our readers are always careful to interpret the future. And given that on the first day of the weekend in Quebec the FIA made official the technical regulations that will be adopted by Formula 1 starting from 2026, now – after a few days of “digesting” all these new features – the word passes to you.
The innovations in the regulation were launched with a very eye-catching slogan for single-seaters: “Lighter, safer and more competitive”. But will this really improve handling and will the races be more competitive and spectacular?
Let’s go into detail: given that the main interventions will concern weight, with the single-seaters being 30 kg lighter than the current ones, will it be enough to “improve handling”, as the FIA claims?
The questions aren’t over. To facilitate overtaking, will the reduced measures (-200mm wheelbase and -100mm width) really make a difference?
Certainly, given the (ferocious) hatred that electric cars bring with them, bets are accepted on the fact that the new engines, redesigned to have almost 300% more power on the electric side (up to 350 kW) and less for the endothermic part (it will drop from 550 to 400 kW) it will bring with it negative comments. The same goes for 100% sustainable fuel. We’ll see what’s coming below.
