Norris turns the page
In the roadmap that Lando Norris he had set the goal during the summer holidays to earn 7-8 points per grand prix to Max Verstappen in order to arrive in Abu Dhabi in full swing for the title. In Monza the goal was achieved (the British driver earned eight points on the world champion) but Norris left the circuit with his morale at rock bottom, considering how for the umpteenth time he had thrown away a pole position on the first lap, moreover cashing in on the overtaking of his teammate Oscar Piastri on the outside of the Roggia.
The week off was good for #4, who had the chance to turn the page and now comes to Baku with the intention of to recover even more points from Verstappen and to “get revenge” on Piastriwhose maneuver at the Autodromo also caused Charles Leclerc to lose position.
Norris’s words
“It was fantastic to finish the last European race on the podium for the 12th consecutive Grand Prix. My engineers and I analysed our performance in Monza and found ways to improve, both on my side and as a team.“, these are Norris’ words. “Our goal is clear. I have full confidence in the team to continue working and improving. Now that the two championships are up for grabs, we are more determined than ever.. I’m proud of the team and I can’t wait to see what we can do this weekend.”.
Piastri’s words
“I am looking forward to returning to Azerbaijan. It has been a few months since we have been to a street circuit and Baku always offers interesting races and opportunities. I’m optimistic about what we can do, considering the car we have. The updates have worked well and it is clear that we are competitive on all types of circuits.“, added Piastri. “Last week I returned to the McLaren Technology Centre to prepare for this double-header and sat down with my engineers to understand how we can improve. We have scored a lot of points in every race and hopefully this weekend will be no different.”.
