At 42, Alonso signed the longest contract of his career. Fernando did not go into detail, reiterating that “multi-year” which does not specify the term of the agreement. “Let's say that I will be linked to Aston Martin for many years – he reiterated – we will see season after season what role I will play, there are no age limits set for me. It's certain that I'll be on track for another two years, I'm very confident ahead of the 2026 season, so I want to be there.” Then it will be a matter of sailing by sight, but as befits champions, he will probably be the one to anticipate when he understands that he has given everything.
“Today I am happy with the life I live, I train like a pilot, I eat like a pilot, and I live like a pilot as I always have. It's not easy, but it's what I love to do, and I still can't imagine myself without a steering wheel in my hand. I love driving too much, and I know I can't stop right now. And until the sacrifices I make are less than the joy I get from driving and the passion I have for driving. I breathe Formula 1, I live Formula 1, my lifestyle is fantastic and I love what I do.”

Alonso had an initial meeting with Aston Martin to talk about his future in February, then after Melbourne the decision to continue came. To stimulate him, in addition to a very important contract in terms of duration and remuneration, there is a team that is not skimping on any investment.
“Two years ago we were in what was the small ex-Jordan headquarters – Fernando recalled – today we have a cutting-edge structure and a brand new wind tunnel will soon be completed. Honda will arrive and I have already spoken to them, then we will have Aramco sustainable petrol, in short I believe that there is everything to continue the growth process”.
Alonso confirmed that he has not gone beyond preliminary talks with other teams, his priority has always been Aston Martin.
The only doubt that Fernando had to put aside was related to his family, but something has changed on this front too.
“Nowadays we travel a lot – he commented – the only negative side I see in this type of life is the lack of my family, the fact of not having a normal life and a family of my own, but in this regard I said, okay, Let's see year by year. I spoke to my family, and they promised me that they will come to the races more often, everyone will be in Miami, my mother, my sister, my two nieces. We'll change something so I can continue racing without losing everything.”

“I am extremely excited to continue racing with this team – reiterated Alonso – there is also a sense of loyalty in the decision I made. We started together and achieved many things, some of them probably unprecedented in Formula 1, achieving many goals in a very short period of time.”
“I felt that this was just the beginning of the journey, this couldn't be the end for me with Aston Martin. So yes, I'm super, super happy, and I'm also happy for the people in the factory, for the staff, for our partners. It was a natural decision to make, he will still be on track for a long time with this team.”
