F1 2025, will it open like the old days?
The 2025 Formula 1 season could start in the spirit of the past. In fact, it is increasingly probable that the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will be moved, as they coincide with the Ramadan period, which already this year has forced the first two GPs to take place on Saturdays.
The start of the championship should therefore be celebrated in Melbourne, already the first GP of the year from 1996 to 2019, with the exception of 2006 and 2010. The start date should be March 9, as claimed by colleague Joe Saward. Melbourne should be followed by China the following week. Then the Circus would find itself faced with the first triple of the year (Suzuka-Bahrain-Jeddah) and before competing in the races in Europe (the first would be Monte-Carlo) it would stop in Miami on 27 April.
These are just hypotheses: the FIA will announce it during this season. This scenario, however, is finding more and more confirmation and above all it would allow teams to organize themselves more efficiently from a logistical point of view. Confidence therefore in Melbourne, which last weekend recorded the highest number of spectators for an F1 weekend at Albert Park (452,055).
The semi-city circuit of Australia also has the longest-term contract with Formula 1, being able to enjoy a guaranteed presence on the calendar until 2037 (extension signed in December 2022).
