In Egypt, the Abdelfatah al-Sisi regime has not managed to clean up its image with the world climate summit, COP27. Instead, it has gone from wanting to show itself as a showcase for the rights of its citizens to yet another example of the repression suffered by critics of the regime, such as the lawyer and human rights activist Alaa Abdel-Fattah, who has spent the most part of the last nine years deprived of liberty.
