The large number of games delayed in Colombian soccer due to security issues and concerts, added to a crowded calendar with excess of games, It forced Dimayor to change the dates of the finals of two of its tournaments.
This Tuesday, the entity had announced the scheduling of the Colombia Cup semifinals and many noted that the second leg of the series between Cúcuta Deportivo and Millonarios was scheduled for Sunday, November 5, the date on which the last day of the round-robin phase of the League.
“There have been cultural activities in the different stadiums and we have had to postpone some games. It just so happens that two are with the same team, Millonarios, one with Unión Magdalena, for a concert, another with América, for the Copa Libertadores. So, with this team classified to the semifinals of the Cup, it forces us to move the entire calendar,” Fernando Jaramillo, president of Dimayor, explained to Win Sports.
“On the 20th we are going to have some occupied stadiums, that date must be simultaneous, and the stadium is occupied by a concert that has been announced for a long time, which is that of RBD. Of course, we have to move the date three days. What happens with this, that the final, which was scheduled for December 10, will be held on the 13th? Jaramillo added.
The Colombia Cup final also moved
The scheduling of the Colombia Cup final also moved. The first leg, which was initially scheduled for November 2, was scheduled for the 15th, and the return leg, which was on Wednesday the 22nd, will go on Thursday the 23rd.
In principle, Dimayor does not plan any changes in the event that there is a second round in the elections for mayor of Bogotá. “I hope nothing extraordinary happens that forces us to move the final further, that will be a variable,” said Jaramillo.
In the event that a Bogotá team reaches the final of the League, there is an additional problem: on December 15 there will be a concert by Carlos Vives in El Campín.
“Of course it would affect us: if a team from the capital advances to the final, the problem is not the concert to date, but rather that the stadiums have to be delivered sooner. If the final is on the 13th, we would be just in time to deliver it,” added the leader.
Another problem for Dimayor is that The Colombian Football Federation scheduled a friendly match, outside the Fifa date, against Mexico, on December 16, that, in principle, players from the local environment would face. Jaramillo did not refer to this issue.
