The Blaze retro console series continues with Evercade Alpha, a truly new coin-op style arcade mini-cabinet, with Capcom games but also compatible with cartridges.
Blaze continues its work of relaunching retrogaming with the arrival of a new solution that will surely make nostalgics happy: Evercade Alpha is a coin-op style arcade mini-cabinet arcade, containing Capcom games but also compatible with Evercade cartridges.
After the announcement of Evercade EXP-R and VS-R, which present themselves as simple evolutions in line with the previous retro-consoles, in this case we find ourselves faced with something completely new for the Evercade ecosystem, with real and their own mini-cabin cruisers complete with everything.
At the moment two models have been announced: one based on Street Fighter and the other on Mega Manbut more may arrive later, with these first two launch models set to be available starting November 2024.
The features of Evercade Alpha
Evercade Alpha is a small tabletop cabinet, rather small in size and equipped with a screen 8-inch IPS in 4:3 formatnestled within the typical coin-op structure.
With dimensions of 41x31x24 cm, these are devices that do not take up too much space and can therefore represent an ideal solution for enthusiasts who cannot use real cabinets or larger reproductions.
Both models have a pushbutton standard size with six front buttons and the classic 8-way joystick, with a single station available. At the top, the front decoration is interchangeable, which allows you to customize the look of the mini-cabin.
There are USB ports to connect additional controllers for multiplayer, and there are two on the front slot for cartridges belonging to the Evercade serieswhich substantially expands the possibilities of these devices, considering that over 50 cartridges have been released for a total of over 500 classic games.
Evercade Alphas also come with Wi-Fi for firmware updates and Evercade features like the “Game of the Month” program and the ability to browse the line’s catalog.
Price, games, editions and release date
For the more demanding, the Deluxe Edition version of Evercade Alpha is also available, which looks very similar but has higher quality controls according to the highest Sanwa standards and also contains an additional exclusive controller.
Evercade Alpha Street Fighter Bartop Arcade includes six titles in the series:
- Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors’ Dreams
- Street Fighter Alpha 2
- Street Fighter Alpha 3
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Evercade Alpha Mega Man Bartop Arcade includes some Mega Man but also other classic Capcom titles:
- Mega Man: The Power Battle
- Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters
- Final Fight
- Knights of the Round
- Carrier Air Wing
- Strider
However, the potential library of both devices is much broader, through compatible Evercade cartridges. For what concern priceEvercade Alpha can be purchased for €249.99 from November, while the Deluxe Edition version costs €289.99.
The reservations will be open from June 4th, and these will allow access to a special promotional price of 229.99 euros for the standard versions of Evercade Alpha.
