Elena, the 69-year-old Venetian lady, patient suffering from an important oncological pathology, who died in Switzerland with assisted suicide
Euthanasia, the case of Elena’s death: the news
End of life, the last message of Elena from Switzerland: “I would have preferred to die in my bed, with my daughter and my husband, but it was not possible”.
My reflection
Why does this happen? It is not true that it is State we are. At school during the hour of civics they made us believe it. But if we had opened our eyes already then we would have realized that the state forced us to go to school. Where the teachers gave us orders and they punished us if we did not obey.
But what is the state?
It is an organization in Italy of millions of people divided into hierarchical order. Like in a military barracks. The fundamental internal rule is obedience to the superior. The state dominates unchallenged over all the inhabitants of a territory called Italy. This domain is characterized by the control of everything that happens in that territory. First of all by forcing all the inhabitants to pay a percentage on a flood of things and activities.
Furthermore, the state establishes an infinity of rules which it calls laws and checks through armed persons and unarmed officials that i citizens, or the subjects, respect these laws, punishing those who do not respect them. Since there are so many laws and rules, citizens often have to pay expert lawyers to defend themselves against state disputes.
The State he is not elected by anyone. The state that existed during fascism is the same as it is today. Politicians and political organizations change but the state is immutable. And to return to the decision to end one’s life in Italy, the state has decided, influenced by a powerful economic organization called the Catholic Church, that it is prohibited. While in Switzerland the state has decided that it can be done. So we just have to pretend we are going to buy cigarettes in Swiss to end our life.
