Genoa – A complaint, filed through his lawyer, Daniele Granara, was presented by Luigi Grillocandidate on the Forza Italia lists in the European elections, towards the president of the anti-mafia commission, Chiara Colosimo, who had included him among the candidates who did not respect the self-regulation code of the bicameral commission. The complaint – we read in a note – highlights the “very serious nature image damage caused to Senator Luigi Grillo, correctly nominated for the European elections on 8 and 9 June”.
“Following the checks carried out by the political party nominating Grillo and by the relevant bodies – explains the note – the criteria established by Legislative Decree 235/2012 were in fact fully respected”.
“I remember – underlines the lawyer Granara – that Senator Grillo has never been permanently banned from holding public office and who has never stopped professing his innocence, accessing the institution of plea bargaining only and exclusively to put an end to a bitter judicial affair in which he was involved, while the series of acquittals which have confirmed Grillo as a personality appreciated for the commitment carried out in the institutions and for the competence he has always demonstrated in playing leading roles in the regional and national government and in the Senate of the Republic. Surprisingly – the lawyer continues – the bicameral Commission not only did not value but did not even mention the extinction of the sentence pronounced by the Surveillance Court of Genoa over 4 years ago and with broad appreciation of the attitude held by Senator Grillo. The statement from the Commission chaired by the Honorable Colosimo is therefore in open violation of articles 27 and 51 of the Constitution. Jurisprudence and doctrine are very clear in believing that incomplete truths or failure to correct errors and inaccuracies or, again, the failure to update information already provided, constitute an omission which seriously damaged Luigi Grillo. In fact, the Commission should not have included Senator Grillo on the list for any reason or at least acknowledge the clear state of his criminal record. However, voters were mistakenly raised in doubt that they could not express a preference for Grillo or that they considered him unsuitable for election, thus causing a possible alteration of the electoral result. For this reason – concludes the lawyer Granara – we asked the Public Prosecutor of Rome to investigate and the Presidents of the Chambers to intervene”.
