The assertiveness of the statements made by the American side after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin indicates the nervousness of US President Joe Biden and his entourage. Tiberio Graziani, an Italian political scientist, chairman of the Vision & Global Trends analytical center, said this in a commentary to Lente.ru.
According to the specialist, the statements of the White House and the State Department are primarily addressed to the US allies, in particular the European Union, Poland and Ukraine, rather than Russia itself.
Graziani noted that the current talks were not much different from the summit held in Geneva in June this year. “I believe there is a need to hold more bilateral meetings. Both presidents are now acting in the interests of an international audience, ”he said.
The meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States took place on December 7, it lasted two hours and took place via a special video link. One of the main topics of the meeting was the tension around Ukraine. After the meeting, US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland once again warned Moscow against “invading Ukraine” and said that the United States, together with its allies, are considering the option of completely isolating Russia from the world financial system.
