Thales, commissioned by ESA, will continue to work on the ExoMars mission for 522 million euros
Thales Alenia Space, commissioned by the European Space Agency (ESA), will continue to develop the promising ExoMars-2028 mission. About it reports European Spaceflight publication.
The amount of the relevant contract is 522 million euros. Thales Alenia Space was announced as the lead contractor for the work. The launch of the mission is scheduled for October – November 2028. As part of ExoMars 2028, it is planned to send the Rosalind Franklin rover developed by Leonardo, equipped with a drill, to the surface of Mars.
As part of the contract, it is planned to refine existing systems and replace equipment manufactured by the Russian side for the ExoMars-2022 mission, which was canceled after the start of the special military operation.

In July 2022, ESA Director General Joseph Aschbacher announced the termination of the organization’s cooperation with the Roscosmos state corporation on the ExoMars-2022 program, the launch of which was scheduled for September of the same year.
