Eurocup: the great figures and stars that we will not see in the tournament

The Euro Cup is about to start and the big names that will be part of this international figure to seek to win the trophy are already being known.

On the other hand, there are those big stars who for different reasons will not be accompanying their teams in this new edition of the European tournament.

Most likely, the absence of the players on this list will be noticed by many since, normally, they are references in the clubs in which they play. Whether due to injury, non-call or non-presence of their country in the Euro Cup, the leaders will not have the opportunity to show their talent in Germany.

The great absentees

Frenkie De Jong (Netherlands)

The Dutchman is not having a good time. According to rumors, he will leave FC Barcelona this summer and, now, a new problem has arisen. De Jong has a second degree sprain in his right ankle from which he has not yet been able to recover and, for this reason, he will not be part of Ronald Koeman’s squad.

Thibaut Courtois – Belgium

The Real Madrid goalkeeper was sidelined for much of the season due to injuries. However, he played in the Champions League final as a starter and was the protagonist. Unfortunately, this performance did not earn him a place in his country’s squad and, due to a technical decision, he will not be present.

Erling Haaland – Norway

The young star, a current football reference, would have taken great advantage of his presence in the Euro Cup by scoring important goals for his team, but Norway did not qualify and Haaland will have to wait for another opportunity to play in an international tournament.

Martin Odegaard – Norway

Like Haaland, the Arsenal youngster will not play in the European Championship after Norway failed to qualify for the tournament.

Arkadiusz Milik – Poland

The Juventus footballer will miss another European Championship due to an injury to the meniscus in his left knee and the recovery time is expected to be 30 to 40 days. Milik was called up but was injured during the friendly against Ukraine.

Jack Grealish – England

The forward is not going through a good moment either. There were few times that he was decisive in the season with Manchester City although he was a winner of the Premier League. For this, Southgate decided not to include it in the final list.

Isco – Spain

Isco is going through a return to his best level, the one that made him shine in Madrid. However, playing for Betis now, he was injured against UD Las Palmas and will be out for the next Euro.

Gavi – Spain

The Spanish star of FC Barcelona will also be a notable loss in Luis de la Fuente’s cast in this edition. The youth player was seriously injured in the group stage of qualifying for the Euro Cup and will not be in the tournament.

Alejandro Balde – Spain

Mats Hummels – Germany

Pau Cubarsi – Spain

The FC Barcelona youth player has been making a lot of noise for his team. However, although Germany was expected to be his first European Championship, Cubarsi was deleted from the final list.

Locatelli – Italy

After winning the Euro Cup in 2021 with Italy, Locatelli will not be part of the squad for this edition of the tournament due to a technical decision

David Alaba – Austria

Alaba will not be able to accompany the Austrian team in this call due to an injury he suffered with Real Madrid. The player has been recovering for months but will not be able to make it to the international event.

Lucas Hernandez – France
