Former governor of São Paulo speaks of “disgust” upon learning of the names that were being monitored by Abin during the Bolsonaro government
Former governor of São Paulo João Doria (no party) criticized on Saturday (3.Feb.2024) the espionage scheme by Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) during the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL). In your profile on X (formerly Twitter), referred to the case as a “grotesque espionage of 'parallel Abin'”.
“My revulsion at this sordid and reprehensible behavior, not just in my case, but of all those who were being illegally spied on. The attitude transcends political issues and reaches the very essence of democracy”he declared.
In the publication, Doria stated that his position in defense of the vaccine against Covid-19 and protective measures against the pandemic placed him in “opposite position” to Bolsonaro, then president of the Republic.
This Sunday (Feb 4), Doria published a video in which she calls the scheme a “arapongagem” which, according to him, would have been exercised by the Bolsonaro family.
Watch:
The arapongagem, allegedly carried out by the family of the former President of the Republic, is regrettable. Arapongagem is a crime and violates our Constitution. It compromises ethics, citizens' rights and the democratic integrity of the country. pic.twitter.com/mwBuBTPaXZ

UNDERSTAND
Doria was one of the authorities whose name was monitored by Abin. In addition to him, the list also includes senators, ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and members of the Bolsonaro government itself, according to a list revealed by band on Friday (2.Feb).
Here is the list published by band:
According to the PF, more than 60,000 phones were tracked using First Mile spy software, provided by the Israeli company Cognite, from 2019 to 2021 – during the management of Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) in the body. The investigation indicates that the monitoring took place without the telephone operators' knowledge and the necessary judicial authorization.
LEGAL OR ILLEGAL
Intelligence agencies monitor people. In the past, agents followed anyone who might be suspected of having committed irregularities. Today, the movement of cell phones is mapped with GPS. The legality or illegality of this type of operation is difficult to define.
