Equestrian The Finnish horse of all time Viesker was buried in his backyard: “Even if the house had left, I should have kept the stallion”

The racing king Viesker left his permanent mark on the Finnish trotting community. It left more than 1,500 offspring and many memories.

Everyone Viesker, considered the best Finnish horse ever, died at the age of 33 on his home farm in Laukaa.

Viesker was buried on Tuesday in the courtyard of his home on Leppäläntie, three kilometers south of the center of Laukaa in central Finland.

The five-time trotting king touched the entire equine community, not to mention the importance of the stallion to the loved ones who lived alongside it. It won the reign in 1996-2000.

“Words are not enough to tell the importance of Viesker. Even if the house had left from below, I should have kept the stallion. It was more than a member of the family, ”lived with the horse for 30 years Kari Ahokas tells HS by phone.

Viesker competed on the racetracks for twelve years. The stallion ran his first start on November 22, 1993 at the Killer racetrack in Jyväskylä.

It was Viesker’s first win, with a total of 136 in 169 starts. The horse’s win percentage was an astonishingly high 80.47. It ran consecutive wins in 30 starts.

It ran its last race on March 28, 2004 in Vermont, where Kaarlo Ahokas directed it to a € 5,000 prize pool.

Viesker was owned by Ahokkaan Talli Oy and Viestu Oy, ie Kari Ahokas and Jorma Tuunanen. The horse was bred Eero Luukkanen. Viesker ran 1.5 million euros in prize money for its owners.

In age statistics, Viesker is still an unbeatable trotting horse in many series.

“Whiskey’s racing career was an incredibly great time. It gave so much, but the retirement days were equally important and a wonderful time. I was in contact with Viesker every day, ”says Kari Ahokas.

Kari Ahakos held Viesker’s reins at the 31st anniversary celebrations in the summer of 2020. Jorma Tuunanen, an ongoing co-owner, strokes Viesker.

Yet on Monday Ahokas led Viesker to go out in the morning and brought him back in the afternoon. However, the step was already beginning to weigh.

“It had previously been decided that when the tire came, it was time for him to leave. It was a hard day for me too. A delicate moment and a lower jaw fluttered as Viesker was lowered. ”

Viesker’s fable in Finnish equestrian sports is likely to continue for a long time. It has 1,503 offspring, one of whom – a five-year-old mare – is in Ahokka’s stable.

“There are still some unused seeds in the whiskey at the Central Stallion in Ylivieska. The station decides what to do with them. Viesker was a folk horse that will not be forgotten from people’s hearts, ”says Ahokas with a low voice.

Vieskerin appreciation is well illustrated by the 30th anniversary celebrations held for the horse. Ahokka’s stable was waiting for 600 people, but there were 5,000 congratulators.

“It was quite incomprehensible.”

In the summer, Viesker receives a tombstone and a corresponding memorial.

“Let’s give Viesker value that no ladder can stand on the scene. The idea is so confused that I can’t say what is written on the tombstone. If everything were put in, the end wall of the house would not be enough. ”

Ahoka is not bothered, although Viesker’s cemetery may become a kind of pilgrimage site for trotting people. Viesker was a captivating person who enjoyed life and performing.

“I don’t deny anyone coming. Viesker has been the mascot of the village when people have come to see it on a pasture with bags of carrots and bread. ”
