Helsinki Pride has made the participation of political parties and the parties’ youth organizations in the event a condition for the promotion of the law prohibiting the act of reconciliation.
Among the parliamentary parties this year, the Sdp, Rkp, Vasemistoliitto and the Greens, an organization, are participating this year announced on Wednesday. After the publication of the press release, the Helsinki Convention also told STT that it had applied to become a community partner for the event.
The center, Liike Nyt, Perusfinomaniket and the Christian Democrats will therefore be left out of Pride. However, the youth and student organizations in the center are participating in the event. The organizer says that he has accepted all political actors who applied for the partnership of the event.
Requiring a ban on decompression treatments citizens’ initiative is currently being discussed in the parliament’s legal committee. Disintegration treatments and therapies refer to forms of treatment aimed at changing sexual orientation or gender identity.

A recent study by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights shows that Finns face reunification measures more often than the European average.
“This year, we especially wanted to highlight the legislation prohibiting reclamation activities, as it is currently being discussed in parliament. The fact that, according to the Fundamental Rights Agency’s research, 31 percent of the respondents in Finland have experienced reintegration measures, shows how extensive the problem is,” says the executive director of the Helsinki Pride community Annu Kemppainen in the bulletin.
100,000 people belonging to sexual and gender minorities from 30 countries responded to the survey by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights.
The organizers of the event say that they invited the parliamentary parties to a round table discussion at the beginning of the year in order to make their activities transparent.
Last year, Helsinki Pride did not accept the coalition and the center as partners, because some of the parties’ MPs voted against reforming the trans law. The Helsinki Pride community justified the decision by saying that the parties did not meet Pride’s values.
Helsinki Pride week takes place in the last week of June. The most famous event of the week is the Pride parade, which takes place on Saturday, June 29.
As a community partner associations can use the Helsinki Pride logo in their communication and marketing and get their own walking block in the Helsinki Pride parade.
Helsinki the kokoomoo applied for Helsinki Pride’s community partnership on Wednesday, executive director of the Helsinki kokoomoo Timo Enroth told STT.
According to Enroth, the party has always wanted to participate in the event, but for some reason the application has not been submitted.
“This is an important matter for us. I had the belief all along that we would be there as a partner,” says Enroth.
When Helsinki Pride announced its community partners on Wednesday morning, the Helsinki Convention was not yet on the list.
