“The adults admitted to the San Donato hospital in Arezzo have all been discharged. Four children were sent to Careggi tonight in a hyperbaric chamber. Of the 6 children remaining at San Donato, discharge is expected soon after a check-up. At the Fratta hospital in Cortona, they were all discharged yesterday evening. All those who presented themselves independently in the various emergency rooms, 9 adults and 17 pediatrics were discharged, as were those who were hospitalized at the Misericordia in Grosseto”. The head of intensive care at the San Donato hospital in Arezzo expresses his opinion on what happened. “In the meantime, I would like to reassure everyone. The patients are fine – says Dr. Raffaella Pavani, director of the intensive care unit at the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo – there are four children sent to Careggi tonight, but their conditions are not critical”. Pavani then continues: “the monoxide Carbon is a sneaky killer. It is an odorless, tasteless and non-irritating gas. The symptoms are headache, nausea, dizziness, loss of consciousness, up to coma or cardiac arrest.”
The Carabinieri and Fire Brigade are investigating the case to understand the causes of the intoxication. The two heat generators present in the church were seized by the Arezzo Fire Brigade.
