The American producer and deejay Mister Cee passed away at the age of 57: he was responsible for the discovery of Notorious B.I.G.
The world of American Hip Hop music learned a few hours ago the sad news of the death, at the age of just 57, of the well-known deejay and music producer Calvin Laburn, better known by the pseudonym of Mister Cee. His figure was among the most well-known and appreciated in the entire panorama of the genre and he was responsible for the discovery of a legend, as was Notorious B.I.G.
Born in New York, in the Brooklyn neighborhood, on August 17, 1966, Calvin Laburn he approached hip hop music since he was a child, but it was during his high school years that he met Antonio Hardy, alias Big Daddy Kanewho throws himself headlong into the industry as a producer and disc jockey.
With Daddy Kane he has collaborated to the creation of the debut album entitled Long Live The Kanepublished in 1988, but also to subsequent ones It's a Big Daddy Thing of 1989, Taste of Chocolate of 1990, Prince of Darkness of 1991 and Looks Like a Job For of 1993.
His name, his story, are best remembered, however, thanks to the friendship and projects shared with a true legend of the hip hop and rap genre: Notorious BIG In fact, it would have been Mister Cee himself who discovered the talent of the New York artist, from Brooklyn like him, shot dead in Los Angeles in 1997. In 1994 Cee was the executive producer of first album by BIG, titled Ready To Die.
Universally recognized as a central figure in the world of New York and American rap, Laburn also played a role in the world-famous video game Grand Theft Auto IV. More recently he worked in radio, where he broadcast his DJ sets, and played at the Barclays Center, the arena of the NBA basketball team Brooklyn Nets.
His death it happened in the last few hours and announce it the radio station thought about it through a post on social media hip hop Hot 97where Mister Cee worked until 2013. The causes of the 57-year-old's death are not currently known.
